Using the Deacom Update Path
When updating to newer versions of DEACOM, the general rule of thumb is to apply the latest build in each series. For example, if updating major series versions from 14.05 to 14.06, users would apply the latest release in their series, in this case 14.05 and then next the latest release in the 14.06 series. The update path below has shown to be successful in the past. Please note that this path is only a recommendation. Users should apply updates in their test system first, perform the appropriate testing, and once satisfied, apply the same updates used in the training environment to their live production environment.

Important:
- The updates listed in the "Update Table" section must be followed in order. Each version must be installed prior to the next version to have the correct table structure and data to run DEACOM.
- Deacom strongly advises against downgrading as this can cause major data issues.
- After following the update path to version 15.03.009, the update path no longer needs to be followed until version 17.01.059. Some typical update scenarios are covered below:

Additional Notes
- To support Scripting, available beginning in version 15.03, vcredist2015 must be installed on the Server running the Web Service or the PC running the Web Console. The vcredist_2015_32.exe and vcredist_2015_64.exe files are available in the main DEACOM Production folder.
- DEACOM Version 14.6.73 and higher and version 14.7.20 and higher introduce new software libraries necessary to ensure the DEACOM WMS application is compatible with and operates smoothly with the Motorola MC9200 series of scanners. To ensure the scanner libraries are installed successfully, customers will need to follow the instructions via WMS Installation, which include uninstalling the old WMS client, cold booting scanners, then reinstalling the new WMS client.

After this version, the deacom.exe file no longer gets updated. This means viewing the Properties of the file will no longer display the correct version number. Instead, view the Properties of the deacom.webserver.console.exe file to determine the correct version number. To support Scripting, available beginning in version 15.03, vcredist2015 must be installed on the Server running the Web Service or the PC running the Web Console. The vcredist_2015_32.exe and vcredist_2015_64.exe files are available in the main DEACOM Production folder. Any build after 15.03.009 will bypass the Whitelist restriction so long as the update is being ran from the server hosting the Web Service. Including and after this version, WMS will need to be completely un-installed then re-installed, as this version introduces new software libraries necessary to ensure the DEACOM WMS application is compatible with and operates smoothly with all currently supported scanner models. Refer to WMS Installation for more information. After version 15.03.009, the update path no longer needs to be followed until version 17.01.059, since the update program will follow the necessary path automatically. Then, version 17.01.059 must be installed. |
