Input Production form

Field/Button

Description

Shift

Optional. Indicates the Shift for the selected Work Crew. Shifts allow customers to group Work Crews and also supports the ability to create a Shift Efficiency report in Deacom by displaying important information via the Production Costs report. Shifts are linked to Work Crews via the "Shift" field on the Work Crew record. Additional information is available via Production > Maintenance > Shifts.

Work Crew

Crews are used to define which group of Workers are involved in the production processes. Various reports in the production and payroll modules of Deacom have the ability to filter on work crews in order to track production progress and hours. Additional information is available via Crews.

Job Number

Scan or type. Omit dashes if typing. By default, only open jobs with quantity remaining to be finished are available to select. If the system option "Show lines with zero left to finish in input production" is selected, jobs with zero quantity remaining to finish will be able to be selected and have additional quantity finished against the lines.

Part Number

Identifies the parts that will be issued. Once the job number is entered the system will present the first item to be issued. Pick list available to issue a different item.

Description

Item description. Populates when an item is selected.

Lot

The default value will be the Deacom job number unless an expression has been entered in the "Lot# Expression" field in Inventory > Options.

Remaining

The quantity displayed in this field will be variable, depending on how much is left to finish for the selected part.

Completed

Display only. Indicates the amount that has been completed on the selected job line.

Finishing

Enter the amount to be finished.

Notes:

  • Options exist in the system to set the Default Finish Quantity. These include the “Default Finish Quantity” field on the General 2 tab of the Item Master record, the “Default Finish Quantity” field on facility part cross references, and the “Default Finish Quantity” field on the Finishing tab in Production > Options. Reference the General 2 tab link above for additional information.
  • If the quantity is scanned in, then the scanned quantity is used and the system will not evaluate the options discussed above.
  • The security setting "WMS - overproduce job" determines if a WMS user may overproduce on an open job, even if the user has already exited the job/transaction on the scanner.
  • Once users finish a quantity by entering an amount and saving the job order, they will not be able to edit the previously finished job line unless the security setting "Production - edit previously finished job line" is set to true for this user.

Container Number

Search field used to select a Container that was issued to the job. Used in situations where materials are meant to be finished into Containers.

Location Type

The location type where the finished item will be placed once the finish process is complete. The default Location Type is based on the hierarchy listed in the opening section of the Input Production page, unless the item being finished has the "Finish job to WIP materials location" flag checked. If this flag is checked, the inventory type for this item will default to the same location type where the raw materials used in the production of this item have been issued, provided all raw materials have been issued to the same location. Please see the Default Location and Location Type Preferences section below for additional details.

  • Note: If all the raw materials for the production of the item have not been issued to the same location type, the default inventory location type will be provided by the item master record, if present. If the item master record does not contain a location type, this field will be blank but must be populated by the user to complete the finish process.
  • If finishing inventory to an existing Master Lot, this field will be disabled and populated with the existing Master Lot Location Type. (added in version 17.04.006)

Location

The location where the finished item will be placed once the finish process is complete. The default location is based on the hierarchy listed in the opening section of the Input Production page, unless the item being finished has the "Finish job to WIP materials location" flag checked. If this flag is checked, the inventory for this item will default to the same location where the raw materials used in the production of this item have been issued, provided all raw materials have been issued to the same location. Please see the Default Location and Location Type Preferences section below for additional details.

  • Note: If all the raw materials for the production of the item have not been issued to the same location, the default inventory location will be provided by the item master record, if present. If the item master record does not contain a location type, this field will be blank but must be populated by the user to complete the finish process.
  • If finishing inventory to an existing Master Lot, this field will be disabled and populated with the existing Master Lot Location. (added in version 17.04.006)

Expires

Default to receipt date plus item shelf life.

Attributes

Company-defined lot descriptors.

  • Note: When finishing catch weight items in WMS, the attributes entered at the job header level via the "More" button will be the default attributes applied to each of the catch weight lots. These attributes can be individually overridden if desired via the "More" button on the catch weight entry form.

Serial Number

Serialized items only.

Container Number

Represents the Deacom Container number. Application Identifier 250 can be used in Barcodes to represent the Container # for this field.

Density

Ability to specify the actual density when finishing materials. The ability to enter values in this field is controlled by the “Measured Density” flag on the Property tab of the Item Master record.

Shop Area

Read only. Displays the shop area identified on the job header.

Notes

The notes from the job header notes field. This field is editable. Changes to this field will be visible when running job reports in the main application. The ability to add notes when inputting production has been used in the case of finishing maintenance type jobs, where the maintenance worker can enter important notes regarding the work performed. In addition, since the notes will be visible when the job was originally entered, the maintenance scheduler can use the notes field to describe additional information about the work center and work required, thus allowing maintenance workers to confirm they are in the right work area.

Relieve Labor Costs

Relieves costs for all time that has been entered against this job. The default setting for this box is controlled via the "Relieve Labor Cost - Job Finish" checkbox on the Finishing tab in Production > Options.

Relieve All Issued Materials

Relieves issued material from WIP. The default setting for this box is controlled via the "Relieve All Issued - Job Finish" checkbox on the Finishing tab in Production > Options. The setting in the "Job Relieve Test Type" field within Production > Options > Finishing tab also effects how issued materials are handled. The "Expensed Material" report via Production > Job Reporting is useful for determining situations in which inventory that is relieved at the end of the job but does not get relieved into a specific lot, which typically occurs when the "Relieve All Issued Materials" flag is checked when closing a job where nothing was produced/finished on the job.

Close Job

If checked automatically checks the relieve labor costs and relieves all WIP with this finish. Security exists to control access to this flag. Note also that work flow steps can be marked as "Required to Close Job". If marked as true, the work flow sequence/step before a job can be closed. Note that this does not prevent material from being produced or relieved.

Print Label

Option to print the job label for lot(s) being finished. If this box is checked, the "Print Quantity" form will be displayed when the "Finish" button is chosen. The form contains a "Remember Settings" flag which will save the entered values and apply them to all finishes on that job line until the user leaves the job.

Print Master Lot Label

If checked, the Print Quantity form will be displayed and the Master Lot label for the Lot(s) being finished will be printed after the "Finish" button is clicked.

Make Master Lot

If checked, a new Master Lot will be created after the "Finish" button is clicked and this new Master Lot will be visible via the "Master Lots" report in Inventory > Inventory Reporting.

  • If an item has the "Make Master Lot At Job Finish" property flag checked, this field will be checked and disabled.
  • For more information on Master Lots, refer to the Creating and Using Master Lots page.

More

Screen to add additional lot information, including:

  • Expires - Default to receipt date plus item shelf life.
  • Attributes - Company-defined lot descriptors.
    • Note: When finishing catch weight items in WMS, the attributes entered at the job header level via the "More" button will be the default attributes applied to each of the catch weight lots. These attributes can be individually overridden if desired via the "More" button on the catch weight entry form.
  • Container # - Represents the Deacom Container number. Application Identifier 250 can be used in Barcodes to represent the Container # for this field.
  • Serial # - Serialized items only.
  • Density - Ability to specify the actual density when finishing materials. The ability to enter values in this field is controlled by the “Measured Density” flag on the Property tab of the Item Master record.
  • Back Button - Return to item detail form, discard changes.
  • Save Button - Return to item detail form, save changes.

Finish

Saves line/lot/quantity information and marks the specified quantities as finished on this job. Confirmation screen is displayed.

  • Note: If the job contains multiple lines the scanner will display the next line after the "Finish" button has been hit for the first line on the job. In the case of a job with multiple lines, users can check the "Close Job" box during the final finish transaction.

Exit

Return to WMS main menu. Note that an exit confirmation screen will be displayed if there is a job currently active on the form with a part selected.

Notes:

  • The default catch weight displayed when receiving Purchase Orders in the WMS application will be the unit weight specified on the item master record unless the "Default Catch Weight to Zero" flag has been set in Inventory > Options.
  • The "Include Tare Weight In Catch Weight In Input Production" flag is available via the Finishing tab in Production > Options. If this flag is unchecked, and a user enters a catch weight in the WMS Input Production transaction, the tare weight will be subtracted from the catch weight before saving. If the flag is checked, the catch weight will be saved exactly as the user entered it.
  • The "Input Production Clear" field on the Production > Options > Finishing tab determines how the Input Production form will be cleared/reset after finishing quantities.
    • When set to "None" - Will follow the above functionality in Production > Options > Finishing tab.
    • When set to "Part" - Will clear the part number as well as any related fields.
    • When set to "Job" - Will clear all information on the form.
  • The item master properties tab contains a new flag, "Require Expiration Date". If this flag is checked, the system will prevent inventory adjustments, production, or receipts if this part's expiration date is blank. If this occurs, the user will be prompted with the following message: "This item requires an expiration date".
  • When finishing products to a master lot (and there is existing inventory in the master lot), it was previously possible to finish inventory to a master lot that contained work-in-progress (WIP) inventory, which could lead to discrepancies in inventory records. Now when finishing items, the system checks that all inventory within the master lot is of the same inventory location and inventory type. If there are mismatches, users will receive a prompt indicating that the master lot must contain items in the same location and inventory status.

    • In addition, the Location and Location Type fields will be disabled in this scenario and the system will use the Location Type and Location of the existing Master Lot.
    • Note: These changes were implemented in version 17.04.006.
