Final Staging WMS

Final Staging is the second step in the two step staging process, and results in the material that was pre-staged being issued to the production job. The process allows for the printing of lot labels, so that measured components can be identified by part number, lot number, quantity, and job number.

  • Final Staging

Final Staging form

Note: the part substitution rules, (beginning in version 17.04) available via the substitute tabs on Bills of Materials and Item Masters apply to WMS transactions as well. When a substitute is scanned the system will validate against the substitute rules to determine if the substitute is valid, and determine quantity required using conversions.

Field/Button

Description

Job Number

Scan or type. Omit dashes if typing.

Part Number

Identifies the parts that will be staged. Once the job number is entered the system will present the first item to be staged. Drop down list available to stage a different item.

  • BOM Lines contain a "QC To Continue" field, that if populated with a QC Test, requires the test be performed before items on subsequent BOM lines will be displayed in this field.

Description

Item description. Populates when an item is selected.

Unit

Item stock unit of measure. Populates when an item is selected.

Location Type

Scan appropriate location type. Drop down list also available with all active locations for selected facility. Location Types are maintained at Inventory > Maintenance > Locations within the main Deacom application.

Location

Scan appropriate location. Drop down list also available with all active locations for selected facility. Locations are maintained at Inventory > Maintenance > Locations within the main Deacom application.

System Lot

Displays the oldest (FIFO) lot. Users can scan lot label to confirm the correct selection and proceed to the next lot. If necessary, user can review the lot or select an alternative lot by clicking the "Lots" button.

To Master Lot

Option to select a Master Lot to which the selected lots will be final staged. Users have the ability to Final Stage to multiple Master Lots per Apply clicked. If a user has the security setting "Inventory - Final Stage by Master Lot", and a Master Lot is scanned or entered manually, the system will ignore any lot filters that have been selected on the "Final Staging" form. Note that when selecting an item in Final Staging that is already on a Master Lot, the system will disable the "To Master Lot" field and remove the To Master Lot number, if present, at the same time.

Master Lot

Option to stage item as belonging to a master lot. The master lot concept is used in situations where miscellaneous quantities and containers of items are to be grouped together for example on a pallet in order to allow for easier storage and to eliminate the need for multiple moving transactions within the system.

  • Note: If "Backflush Catch Weights on WMS" is checked, when a Master Lot label is scanned and possesses all lots of the same item with equivalent catch weights, the quantity entered on the form is treated as the quantity of lots to use. When the action is processed, the system backflushes lots out of the Master Lot in FEFO order.

User Lot

Displays the oldest (FIFO) lot. Users can scan lot label to confirm the correct selection and proceed to the next lot. If necessary, user can review the lot or select an alternative lot by clicking the "Lots" button.

Lot Quantity

Displays quantity of current lot.

Staging

Actual quantity that will be staged. Users can adjust as needed.

  • Notes:
    • The system will automatically convert the quantity in this field (beginning in version 17.04.003) to the stock unit of measure for the substitute part. Specifically, the system applies the substitute factor (su_factor) and then converts to the requirement to the stock unit of the substitute part. Supports scenarios where companies need to stock substitutes in different units of measure than the original part. For catch weight items the system will use the value in the item unit weight (pr_unitwgt) in conversions of unit type.
    • The "Edit BOM Line" form, via Inventory > Bills Of Material, contains a "Sequential" check box. If checked, this field tells the system that items are to be issued and staged to jobs in the order they are sequenced on the BOM revision. Note that the first line item on the BOM can not be marked sequential. If users attempt to issue to a BOM line that is marked sequential without first issuing to any BOM lines before this one, the system will display a prompt indicating the previous part needs to be issued/staged first.
    • When final staging both Jobs and Sales Orders, the default is based on the "Default Final Stage Qty" set via Inventory > Options > Staging tab.
    • Users with the security setting: "WMS - Allow Issue Without Physical Scan" set to No can, if desired, enter a quantity in this field.

Remaining

Displays the amount left to stage for the current iteration based on what has already been staged to the part number selected in the part number searchbox.

BOM Sequence

Pick list used to select the BOM Sequence number for which staging will occur when a Part is contained on a BOM more than once.

Attributes 1-3

Displays the attributes of the selected lot.

Catch Weight

Displays catch weight of the selected lot.

Lots

Displays a list of available lots for the selected item that can be selected for staging. Click the "Exit" button to return without choosing.

Print Master Lot

If selected, prints a master lot label containing the lots and lot quantities within the master lot if the "Create Master Lot" box on this form is checked or if the master lot field is filled in. This label may be used by production workers during the production process. Note that the print master lot label and print lot label boxes may both be checked when required.

Print Document Group

If selected, the document group assigned to the sales order, via the Misc 1 tab, will be printed at the completion of final staging.

  • Only applies to sales orders, not jobs.

Scan Lots

Used to scan lot numbers after a part number has been selected. If checked, the system will disable the "User Lot" and "Location" field, and enable the "Lot Number" field. Once a part number has been selected or scanned, the focus moves to the "Lot Number" field.

Save

Completes the staging process, provides confirmation message that all lots scanned or selected previously have been staged and exits the final staging transaction.

Notes:

  • The security option "WMS - - final stage partial requirements". If not all requirements are met, and security option is false, users will not be allowed to proceed. This security if set, provides an additional level of user security be placed in order to permit a user to exit final staging if all requirements are not final staged.
  • The security setting "WMS -- allow final staging without physical scan" can be used in connection with the final staging in the WMS application. If the security is set to "Yes", users will not be able to final stage in the WMS application without scanning a barcode first.

Undo

Removes immediately previous lot from staging list.

Exit

Cancels the staging process and exits to the main WMS menu. Lots scanned previously will not be staged.

Stage Parameters form

The stage parameters form is displayed once the "Save" button has been clicked on the pre-stage form. The table below details the fields available to this form.

Exit

If clicked, returns to the pre-stage form.

Substitute Parts

Part substitutions can be made for production jobs and sales orders in WMS. The process/logic used for this feature is as follows:

  • If the part being scanned in the bar code is not a required part for the job/sales order, then the system will check if any lots of the part scanned have been pre-staged previously and are in a staging status. If yes, the substitute may be final staged. If not, the part cannot be final staged.
  • Note: If the part/lots exist in the staging status, but have not been specifically pre-staged, then the substitution process may continue in final staging as long as the scanned part is a valid substitute.
